Smart Cane

My Senior Capstone Project. We built out a smart walking cane that could alert the user of nearby obstacles using ultrasonic sensors, gyroscopes, an Arduino, and a Bluetooth headset. Though bulky in its prototype design, it was quite lightweight and did not require much battery for extended use.

Game Show Buzzers

A simple project of two game show buzzers. Whichever contestant is quicker would hit the buzzer first, it would light up and make a unique sound. This used an Arduino to control the lights and sounds. The project using the buzzers was shelved, so the device never made it into a proper housing.

Guitar as NES Controller

This silly project allows NES games to be controlled via notes played on a guitar. This is accomplished using an Audio to MIDI converter. That MIDI is then read by an Arduino which converts the notes to a specific button presses on the controller. Each note is programmable to be any button press. The current goal is to program the notes in such a way that playing the game well may produce something interesting on the guitar.

Rock Band Guitar Repair

Even after all these years, Rock Band/Guitar Hero is still a fun party game to break out occasionally. Unfortunately, the guitars are expensive, and usually not in great shape. I bought one online that needed some repair, and got it into working order.
